March 15: Great Lakes Formation Meeting

A Formation Meeting took place on Saturday, March 15th, 2003 at the Buffalo Yacht Club, Buffalo, NY. Seventeen Cape Dorians were in attendance and voted to form the "6th Fleet", the Great Lakes Fleet of the CDSOA. Ed Haley of Rome, NY, was elected Fleet Captain and Brian McGowan of Buffalo, NY, was elected Fleet Secretary. After the election of officers, a great meal, and alot of Cape Dory talk, the group began planning future activities.

Directions to Buffalo Yacht Club

  • From I-190 south, there is an exit to Porter Ave. That's also the exit to the Peace Bridge to Canada.
  • Turn right on Porter, go 1 block, BYC entrance, boat yard and sign is on the right.
  • From I-190 north, take exit to the Peace Bridge. At the stop light before the US Customs and toll gates, turn right and go to Porter Ave.
  • Turn right on Porter, cross the Interstate, go 1 block and look for the BYC sign on the right.

Agenda

  • Lunch in board room beginning at noon
  • CDSOA members and applicants draw up request to CDSOA to form Great Lakes Fleet.
  • Members elect Fleet Captain and Fleet Secretary
  • Review of major activities already planned by other groups on the lakes
  • Decide how to coordinate events in the large region
  • Ideas and dates for our summer events
  • Assign tasks for activities and/or events
  • Prepare for the summer!
