Now that the Great Lakes are starting to warm up (LOL) again, do you feel an urge to start recommissioning yet??? Maybe not, but put the date of March 12 in your calendars for our dinner at the Rochester Yacht Club to start the 2005 Great Lakes Fleet Sailing Season. A dinner out will do us all good by then since we've probably had the best part of winter behind us with the worst to come (Nature seems to even herself out).

Maybe you spent the 2004 season daysailing around your home port. Maybe you ventured afar and did a nice cruise. Maybe you didn't get out much at all. But whatever your aspirations were last year, let's try to involve the Great Lakes Fleet for some sailing in the summer of 2005. We will elect a new Fleet Captain for 2005 and if you've considered developing an active fleet please consider taking the helm. It would be nice to see a Fleet Captain from Lake Erie this time since there are more GLF members sailing that lake than any other. In addition to the Fleet Captain, we need to elect a new Fleet Secretary.

The meeting will begin at 2:00 in the afternoon and will finish around 5:00 or shortly afterward. After a short break, dinner will be served and you can order a chicken, beef or fish dinner at that time. Dinner tabs of all 2005 Great Lakes Fleet or CDSOA members and spouses will be picked up by the fleet. Without membership, a modest dinner fee of $20 will be charged.

Please contact Fleet Captain Ed Haley at 315-336-0775 or via e-mail to eghaleyNOSPAM@twcny.rr.com (Don't forget to remove "NOSPAM" from the e-mail address before clicking on Send) and let him know you'll be there. Also indicate the number of people in your party and your preference for beef, chicken or fish dinner.

Some traveling members will need overnight accommodations in Rochester when attending the March 12 Great Lakes Fleet meeting at the Rochester Yacht Club. Some of us have booked reservations at the Ramada Inn on Jefferson Road in the Rochester area. The prices are quite reasonable and it would be nice for some of us to get to know one another better (say, party!). The hotel is on the other side of the city from the Rochester Yacht Club but it is an easy drive (famous last words, I know).

Make your reservations soon if you wish to stay with Ramada. There are many events around St. Patrick's Day.

Hope to see all members there.

Sincerely,
Ed Haley
Fleet Captain
CDSOA Great Lakes Fleet
