By popular demand, we have scheduled a Rigging
Seminar for our Winter Meeting. It will take place at
Ms. Sil's Kitchen in Oriental, NC on February 12, 2005.
Ms. Sil's Kitchen
900 Broad St.
PO Box 37
Oriental, NC 28571
I know this is short notice but please try to attend if you are
in the area. Two expert riggers from Oriental have been tapped
to make presentations and answer questions. Alan Arnfast,
of Sailcraft Service, Inc. is imminently qualifed to discuss the
nuances of fixed, standing rigging. As owner of one of the premier
boatyards in Oriental, he is ready to relate the issues that boatowners
and repair yards face daily in their respective pursuits to maintain
sailing vessels. Capt. Ross Pease, currently
the Harbor Master at Oriental Harbor and Marina, has many years
experience working in local chandleries, and re-rigging local
boats with their running rigging and associated lines. We will
begin about 9:00 AM with a lunch break, and continue
until about 3:00 PM. Seating is limited to 50
people so if you plan on attending, please RSVP to Carolinas Fleet
Secretary, Shanna Paxton, at spaxton@crmcnetNOSPAM.com
for an accurate head count.
Additionally, our Spring Planning Meeting will
find us returning to Captain Ratty's Restaurant
for lunch in New Bern, NC on March 26, 2005.
Some new cruise destinations are in the works and any awards earned
this past year will be publicly announced! It's also a great time
to join the Fleet, or say hello to members you haven't seen in
Best wishes for a great '2005 sailing season!
Carolinas Fleet Captain,
