Bob's Current Plan:

• The N.J. contingent will depart either on July 10 or 11 depending on conditions. Since this is a 200NM passage, it will be a 36 hour to 48 hour run, again based on SOG determined by sea, wind state and boat size. If conditions are not reasonable for a passage from Barnegat to Onset area, via the Atlantic Ocean, than I will wait until an opportunity exists.

• This places us at the Cape Cod Canal area sometime on the weekend of July12-13. The staging area will be Red Brook Harbor, MA. Fuel, water, crew change, sleep, and any other provisions will be done.

• Departure time for the transit through Cape Cod Canal and on to Tenants Harbor in Maine will be on July 14 (again weather permitting) at 0600 hours. (or close as possible). The current turns favorable at 0418 hours (flood starts east). This will be a 150NM (aprox.) passage. Leaving at this time will give us a 24 -36 hour passage window in order to arrive at Tenants Harbor during daylight.

• Once we arrive in Tenants harbor, there will be options in your cruising itinerary. Some of you may want a daily scheduled itinerary with a different harbor every night, (Dave Potts is working on the cruising float plan -- see the itinerary listed above) or you may prefer to stay in fewer harbors but with more time to explore on shore at each stop. Personally my wife and I decide at dinner in the evening on whether to move to a different harbor or stay another day. This is a matter of personal cruising style, and I recommend everyone intending on doing this trip to obtain a copy of A cruising guide to the Maine Coast by Taft / Rinlaub, and some charts to prepare for your vacation. This is a great winter activity! Whatever itinerary each of you decides, we will definitely have a couple of overnight raftup’s (weather permitting), which will encompass the CDSOA cruising fleet in Maine.

• More specific information will be posted on this page, the CD Board, and through mass email in the coming month’s, such as application forms, requirements to participate, crew openings, etc.

• During the rest of the winter, let’s have some fun planning for our next great sailing adventure!
